Be Yourself

A 2019 update to one of PFLAG National’s most popular publications! BE YOURSELF offers a supportive and understanding approach to today’s most common questions and concerns from youth regarding sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. The publication also includes an up-to-date list of resources, including hotline numbers, other organizations, and more.

Guide to Being a Trans Ally

Guide to Being a Straight Ally

Faith in our Families

Discovering that a loved one is LGBTQ+ can pose new questions about your faith. By using personal experiences from families of faith as well as faith leaders from a broad variety of traditions, this publication provides examples for reconciling your faith with the knowledge that a loved one is LGBTQ+, and broad resources to help you on the path.

Our Trans Loved Ones

Written by PFLAG staff members, and created with the help of content experts, reviewers, and PFLAGers with experience to share, OUR TRANS LOVED ONES is full of information, first-person stories, and expert input geared to those who have a loved one who has come out as trans or gender expansive.

Supporting Your LGBTQ+ Grandchild

In partnership with our friends at SAGE and with a foreword by Dear Abby, this publication is full of useful knowledge, answers to common questions, and helpful tips. It is a must-read for any grandparent looking to learn more about how to support LGBTQ grandkids…or looking for support for themselves.

Be Not Afraid

Be Not Afraid aims to move the way we understand our religious beliefs and our relationships with LGBTQ people – and support for equality – away from the either/or, “love the sinner, hate the sin” framework and to a place where people can try to understand that you can be a person of faith, loyal to your religion’s teachings, and someone who supports their LGBTQ friends and family.

PFLAG National Glossary of Terms

The power of language to shape our perceptions of other people is immense. Precise use of terms in regards to gender and sexual orientation can have a significant impact on demystifying many of the mis-perceptions associated with these concepts. However, the vocabulary of both continues to evolve, and there is not universal agreement about the definitions of many terms. Click here for some working definitions and examples of frequently used (and misused) terms as a starting point for dialogue and understanding, provided by National PFLAG.
